Why the Press Gets Science So Wrong

Money, of course, it's always money.  To misquote Master Yoda, sensational headlines lead to higher ratings, higher ratings lead to more advertisers, and more advertisers lead to more money.  Unfortunately quality and integrity are always the first victims.

A while back PHD Comics produced this breakdown of the science news cycle and I found it quite perceptive and worthy of sharing with interested friends.
